“Integrated Health Care “IHE Pathway” for the Patient”

"Developing a Sustainable, Scalable, Integrated Healthcare Enterprise IHE, Collaborative Imaging & Progression towards an all Digital Facility based on the ICARAS* agenda"

Our objective is the “ICARASbased systems integration, development and deployment of medical images and health records “Trust Wide & between Health Authorities, Globally”. Using high speed “Terrestrial & Satellite”, “fixed, mobile and wireless” data links, creating Sustainable, Scalable and Affordable facilities for enhanced Patientcare

We have a pedigree in PC based Telemedicine and Medical Informatics since the mid 1990s implementing and evaluating medical and digital data transfers in collaboration with academic, NHSIA and industrial partners.

The IHE development was designed to be sustainable through standards based, interoperable & scalable implementations to meet the growing demand for medical information locally and remotely.

We have evaluated and implemented to date
· Realtime ultrasound transfers on ISDN6(1996/97)
· Clinical/Teaching/Research image storage systems(1996/97)
· GP Link(1997/98) i.e. “Image & Report” Links to GP Practices
· Smart Card based solutions for IHE(1997/98)
· Emergency medicine solutions for image transfers using mobile communication technology(1998/99)
· “Multicentre-Cardiovascular-Multimedia” Database(1998/99)
· Lung Cancer Care Protocol to meet with the national guidelines and the NSFs(1999/2000)
· Remote Image links for chest and ultrasound images(2001)
· 2/6 planned OP Clinics for digital chest image transfers as a part of the Avon Health IT Strategy(2001)
· NT Roll-out-Phase II for multimedia/image based RIS(2001)
· Radiological On-call services(2001)

· Integrated PACs systems (2002)
· IPVPN based Radiological On-call services(2003)

· Realtime Foetal Cardiac Ultrasound all the way down to Truro (186 miles) (2003-2004)

· European and Global Links Currently for “eLearning, CPDs & eHealth” (Expert/Second Opinons)

*Sustainability through “ICARAS”: Interoperability, Compatibility, Accessibility, Reliability, Scalability, Affordability
